Anytime you’re touching your saddle or working with your horse is valuable practice for county and state fair! Remember: your biggest competition—and really, your only competition—is yourself. Every time you enter that show ring, your one and only goal should be to improve from the last time. You can’t control what happens with other riders or their horses. Do they have fancier horses? Good for them! Do they practice more? Great for them! Is their outfit more sparkly? Who cares! Focus on your own “rodeo” and see how far it can take you. Jeffco still has work to do to become competitive with other counties across the state—but we are a team and need to be rooting for each other and supporting everyone’s efforts. Equitation is a sport, and the riders and horses are athletes. You get out what you put in, and your horse relies on the effort and time you bring.  Let’s ride with purpose and pride!   That's all for now!!  See everyone Tuesday!  Jodi bibbercreekspurs4h@gmail.com 303-829-0649 If you do not receive the Friday Lifeline e-newsletter sent by the county every Friday please sign up to receive it!  There are so many opportunities for our members and it’s all detailed in the Lifeline.  Contact Christina to be added: cjacquot@co.jefferson.co.us

  • Kicking off the new year with 4H!

Today at our Bibber Creek Spurs 4-H meeting, we had an extra special guest that stole the show—a DWARF MINIATURE PONY! This adorable little mare immediately captured everyone’s hearts with her tiny frame and sweet personality. We got to feed her some hay and learned about her care, including an up-close look at its unique, specially-made shoes designed just for ponies like it. It was such a treat to have this little bundle of joy with us, bringing smiles and excitement to everyone in the room. After the excitement of our guest speaker, we shifted gears to discuss the usual club business, including updates, upcoming show presentations, and other organizational matters. The meeting continued with two fantastic presentations from our very own club members. One member gave an educational talk about Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM), sharing insights into this serious condition that affects horses and how to manage it. The other presentation focused on tips and guidance for how to buy a horse, covering everything from evaluating temperament to understanding the financial commitment. Both were incredibly informative and sparked great discussions among the group. It’s a perfect reminder that 4-H is not just about riding horses—it’s also about building life skills like public speaking, learning about democracy and leadership, understanding equine management, mastering horse judging, and so much more. Our meetings are always a blend of fun, education, and growth, and this one was no exception. We’re proud to see our members stepping up, learning, and sharing their knowledge. Here’s to another memorable 4-H meeting! Do you or your child want to be part of the fun and learning at Bibber Creek Spurs 4-H? If you or your kid would enjoy, comment below, and we’ll share how you can get involved! Our special guest - Buttercup!
